RouteVN Creator v1.0.3

We have just released RouteVN Creator v1.0.3.

This is our biggest update yet and a big step up in terms of product maturity, with new features and improvements across the board.

v1.0.3 includes a breaking change for older projects.

Projects created with v0.17.0 and below will not work with this new version and need to be migrated.

If you wish to continue using your previous projects, please contact us via this form or any of our social channels. We will manually upgrade them for you.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We know this is not ideal, but this change is necessary for the future development of the product.

Across the app, we refined interactions, cleaned up layouts, improved visual consistency, and smoothed out rough edges.

With v1.0.3, RouteVN Creator has a more consistent design, feels more intentional, and is more comfortable to use.

This release also puts a lot of weight on stability.

We spent time fixing issues and bugs, reducing friction in common workflows, and making the editor more dependable overall.

We also drastically improved how images and videos are loaded. Media is now loaded on demand and directly from disk, without unnecessary memory conversion.

In our testing, this reduced RAM usage by around 50% when working with larger videos.

We want the whole product to feel solid, and for users to have confidence that they can rely on and build on it.

This is not a claim that everything is perfect, but we now have a much more solid base that allows us to fix bugs and iterate faster.

The Layout Editor is the biggest step up in terms of features in this release.

New projects now come with a fully functioning default UI, including Dialogue ADV, Dialogue NVL, title page, menu page, save/load pages, and options page.

Users can keep the template and simply replace it with their own UI assets, or, for more adventurous users, use the Layout Editor to customize it further.

Building this has been very challenging technically, but we believe it is one of the features that makes RouteVN Creator unique: the ability to fully customize UI layouts and events without any coding.

It is not perfect yet. There are still quirks and parts of the interface that are suboptimal, but this is the first fully working version, and it is an important step forward. We will keep improving on this.

This release is not only about what ships today. It also lays a strong foundation for future features.

We will be releasing more in the upcoming weeks, including:

• Spritesheet system
• Particles system
• History log
• Keyboard shortcuts
• Variables
• User input
• Rich text support
• Richer dialogue controls

We want to get back to at least one release per week, and many of these features will land over the coming weeks.

Version 1.0.3 is another important step forward for RouteVN Creator.

The product is becoming more mature and more refined. We will keep pushing on usability, reliability, and the overall quality of the experience.

Over the coming weeks, we will be publishing much more documentation and more tutorials to help creators get the most out of RouteVN Creator.
